sociologist, and prominent classical liberal political theorist of the Victorian era) said all things could be categorized into one of 5 categories: 1. Time 2. Force 3. Action 4. Space 5. Matter Now, re-read Genesis 1:1: In the beginning (time), God (force) created (action) the heavens (space) and the earth (matter). Congratulations Spencer! You have just described Genesis 1:1! Though he was agnostic, Spencer insisted that he was not concerned to undermine religion in the name of science, but to bring about a reconciliation of the two.
