The Great Genesis Flood

The Genesis Flood: this is such an interesting topic because of the geological evidence that supports it. Remember that God is more interested in the theology than the geology but for the sake of those inquisitive minds such as my own, there is an explanation. Just remember that evidence should not be the basis of your faith, because then it is not faith at all.

Prior to the flood, the lifespans were quite extensive. We see lifespans up to 900 years of age. The theory behind this is the earth was covered by a canopy that attenuated much of the sun's ultra violet radiation that advances aging. This canopy created a type of green house effect, insulating the earth. Subsequently after the breaking of this canopy, the radiaton density would have increased so exponentially, that it had a dramatic and accelerating effect on rates of cellular development and decay, drastically shortening the lifespans.

It says in Genesis 2:6 the mist from the Earth was God's watering system prior to the existence of rain. Some scientists believe the water molecules existed in vapor form, hovering over the edge of the atmosphere, "watering" the earth. The canopy maintained even temperature, restricted ark movement and kept lush environments world-wide. It's believed that the water from the atmosphere accounted for 2.5% of all the water and this canopy was compromised by a major geological event. In Genesis 7:11, it says,

"In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights" -Genesis 7:11, 12 NKJV

MIT scientist and creationist Dr. Walt Brown developed a theory called the Hydroplate Theory. This theory states that in pre-Diluvian Earth, one super continent existed. But beneath the surface, approximately 10 miles down there are interconnected subterranean water tunnels that were approximately half a mile to three-quarters of a mile wide. The release of the pressure build up would have released energy equal to 10 billion hydrogen bombs. This cataclysmic release of energy would have caused a tear in the rock, releasing the water that traveled at 3 miles per second, covering the entire Earth in approximately 2 hours.

This would have opened up a chasm, shooting water 20 miles into the air, causing a rupture in the canopy that once protected the Earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays from the Sun. The continental plates drifted at 45 miles per hour. Upon contact, some pushed up, others pushed down. The plates that were pushed down are responsible for the mid-oceanic ridges and the plates pushed up are responsible for the mountains. It's important to note here that these mountains and mid-oceanic ridges are parallel to each other! This is not a coincidence. This is another fact that further supports Dr. Brown's theory.

There are other geological clues that support the flood: coal and oil deposits, the formation of the strata and it also explains the major formations of structures such as the Grand Canyon, and the deep basis, which helps the water recede once they were formed.

The Great Genesis flood is believed to have caused the tilt of the Earth to 23 1/3 degrees, which is what yields our four seasons. Please see Dr. Brown's video for further clarification:
